Tax and Donation Benefits
Funds are allocated on a formula basis, with an equal base amount for each county and tribal coalition plus a factor for population.
Funding for the Trust's grants come primarily through donations to the Trust, which earn a 100 percent tax credit, and from the sale of Oregon's cultural licencse plates. In fiscal year 2008 (July 1, 2007 - June 30, 2008), Trust revenues increased 24% to $4.26 million. It generated $3.57 million in private and corporate donations; $295,942.00 in cultural license plate sales; and $391,947.00 in interest. On June 20, 2008, the permanent Trust fund (which retains 58 cents of every dollar donated) stood at $10.95 million, an increase of 31% from fiscal year end 2007.
